The Calculator screen: a $142.80 bill with 20% tip and a $171.36 total
No sign-up
Open it and calculate. There is no account, no email wall, no onboarding to click through.
Exact to the cent
Decimal math, not floating point. Remainder cents are distributed so per-person shares sum to the total.
Pre-tax or post-tax
Tip on the subtotal or the full check. Enter tax as an amount or a percentage.
One-handed
Custom keypad in the reachable lower third. Big type, high contrast, readable in a dim room.
What it does

Four taps from bill to per-person.

A $214.50 bill split six ways: $43.00 each, total rounded up to $258.00

Split it exactly. Not roughly.

Tap the party size and every share is calculated to the cent. Remainder cents are distributed across the first payers, so the six numbers on the table add up to the number on the check: exactly, every time.

  • Party size from 1 to 99, with per-person shown live above the keypad.
  • Round the grand total up or down to a clean number, and the adjustment is shown, never hidden.
  • Tip presets at 15, 18, 20 and 25%, plus a custom percentage from 0 to 50.

Every tip you've left, remembered.

Completed calculations save themselves: no save button, no dialogs. Search by place to see what you tipped last time, and swipe to delete anything you'd rather forget. Nothing nags you.

  • Auto-saved after a completed calculation, with a quiet “Saved” confirmation.
  • Search past tips by place; tap any entry for the full breakdown.
  • Swipe to delete. No confirmation dialogs, no clutter.

Snap a receipt

The receipt never leaves your phone.

Point the camera at the check and the total fills itself in. The text recognition runs entirely on-device: no upload, no server, no account. Detected tax comes along for the pre-tax / post-tax toggle.

Nothing is transmitted. Nothing is stored off your device.
Light & dark

Dim restaurant or bright patio.

Follows your system appearance, or lock it. Platinum's brushed-metal readout and the high-contrast Voltage skin are both free.

Push the grand total up or down to a whole number; the delta folds into the tip.
Tax as % or amount
Type the tax figure off the check either way and switch the tip basis.
150+ currencies
Locale-aware formatting, including zero-decimal currencies like the yen.
Haptics
Light feedback on every keypad tap and preset, and you can switch it off if you'd rather not.
Accessible
Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labels on every readout, 44pt targets, AA contrast.
Tipping, answered

How much should you actually tip?

Short answers to what people ask at the table, and what the app does about each one.

Is this tip calculator free?

Yes. Downloading and using it is free, with one small banner ad. Platinum is an optional upgrade that removes ads and adds extras, and the calculator itself is never gated.

How much should I tip at a restaurant in the US?

15 to 20% of the bill is the usual range for table service; 20% is a common default for good service, and 25% is generous. The app puts 15, 18, 20 and 25% one tap away and lets you set your own default.

Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?

Either is accepted. Tipping on the pre-tax subtotal is slightly more common in the US, and it's the more conservative choice. Enter the tax from your check and toggle between the two to see the difference instantly.

How do I split a bill evenly between friends?

Enter the bill, choose a tip, then set the split to your party size. Each share is rounded to the cent and any leftover cents are distributed, so the individual amounts add up to the check exactly.

What's the difference between a tip and gratuity?

They mean the same thing in everyday use. An automatic “gratuity” or “service charge” already added by the restaurant, common for large parties, is different: check the bottom of your check, and if it's there, tip on top only if you want to.

Does receipt scanning upload my receipt anywhere?

No. Text recognition runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No photo, receipt or total is sent to a server, and the app has no account system at all.

Is there an Android or web version?

No. This is a native iPhone app, built for iOS 17 and later, and there are no plans to change that. Being iPhone-only is why it can use on-device text recognition, native haptics and system-level accessibility.

Get the total right, every time.

Free to download, free to use. No account, no onboarding wall, no countdown timer trying to sell you something.
